I wrote this one fully completely 5 times before I landed on this version. I love listening to Doug's bass on this. and Chendy. and Michael Phillip Wojewoda. And Michael Collins who passed away during the time this song was constructed.
Sarah McElcheran played trumpet in a bog in the Ottawa Valley during horsefly season for an earlier version of this song. She drove 45 minutes from Ottawa and brought beers, a trumpet, and a flugelhorn. I hadn't seen her since recording for my first album (Space Woman). I rewrote the song after that session, but I kept her tracks and sampled them to make a synthy melody line because that session was too precious to waste. William Z Villain did a full kit drum session for an earlier 6/8 version of this song. it was so great, what he did. But again, that version of the song didn't feel right so I let it go.
Ultimately I don't know if this version is better than the first version, or the 2nd, or 3rd ...
I only know that this is the one I could finish. And that I am very fortunate to be able to work with extremely talented people.
lyrics
Tell me are you feeling slow? Spending too much time alone?
Winter turns to springtime. Summertime turns to fall.
Everything’s changed. Nothings changed at all.
Te-te-te tell me are you feeling guilty? Ba-baby are you feeling wrong?
Is your head a wasteland? Is every little thing your fault?
You think you’re missing out but there’s nothing going on.
Quarantine
Wish you were here. Wish I was there. I wish you were here or I wish I was there.
Wish you were here. Wish I was there. Wish you were here. Wish I was ..
Across an ocean floor I see your open door.
The world is very small. You’re so near and too far.
You are just a quarter note and I’m a tiny grain of sand,
rolling on the breezes, resting in an open hand.
Time is what we are, cuz time is all we have.
Quarantine. Quarantine. Quarantine.
Wish you were here. Wish I was there. Wish you were here. Wish I was there.
Wish you were here. Wish I was.

This France-based Canadian songwriter fuses organic instrumentation, samples, field recordings, physical synths as well as
plug-ins plus vocal improvisation in a buoyant expansion of genres that could be described as electro-post-rock, or singer-songwriter art-pop or simply experimental pop. (with a slightly punk sensibility)....more
